Who to call for free or low cost S-N

Where to obtain low cost or free spay and neuter services for cats:

 1. For feral cats in traps, Animal Rescue Coalition has a free monthly clinic in Sarasota where approximately 100 cats are fixed per month. Reservations are required, and the clinic usually is the third Sunday of the month. At times, VCC is able to provide volunteer help to residents who do not know how to trap cats. ARC also offers low cost spay and neuter services for dogs and cats with their mobile unit, with advance reservations mandatory, and prices determined based on animal size and other factors. Call ARC for Buddy’s Feral Cat Day reservations and further instructions: 941) 957-1955. www.animalrescuecoaltion.org

2. Sarasota in Defense of Animals has a monthly clinic for tame and feral cats, open to the public by reservation. The clinic is held on a Saturday morning at Dr. Nehrer’s office in Palmer Ranch in south Sarasota. Call SDA for reservations:  941-342-1575. www.sdasarasota.com

3. St. Francis Animal Rescue has a small regular program with vouchers for cat spay-neuters. Call St. Francis to inquire about how to request help: 941 492-6100. www.stfrancisarfl.org

4. Myakka River Animal Clinic in Venice has a small program under which unowned cats are fixed at no cost, if the caretaker-service requestor pays an $18 charge for the rabies shot administered when the cat is fixed. 941-488-1455.

5. Cat Depot of Sarasota provides free spay-neuter programs with funds from the Florida Animal Friend license plate program:  941-366-2404.

6. In Punta Gorda, Dr. Andrea Bivens offers two no-cost surgeries per week to feral cats brought in by the public. To request the service, call Animal Medical Clinic of Punta Gorda at: 941-639-9600.

7. Venice Cat Coalition sometimes has access to donated spay and neuter surgeries, and provides these at no cost when they are available. At this time, no free surgeries are offered by VCC. For a small donation, VCC can provide low cost spay and neuter if the caretaker makes the donation in advance. For female cats, a $40 donation is required; male cats are $30. Email or call VCC for instructions on how to donate and schedule a surgery.  941-525-4568. info@Keywestcatsociety.com.
