The Florida Animal Friend license plate provides grant funding for spay and neuters for local cats and dogs. Venice Cat Coalition has participated in this program in 2009 and 2010 via larger cat rescue organizations that were selected to receive funding. With its collaborators, St. Francis Animal Rescue in 2009 and Cat Depot of Sarasota in 2010, the Venice Cat Coalition has brought hundreds of trapped feral cats, homeless cats and resident-owned cats to local vets for surgery. Many thanks to FAF and our collaborators
Cats recover from a high-volume surgery clinic conducted monthly by Sarasota's ARC's Buddy's Feral Cat Program.
VCC participates each month by volunteering at the clinic and bringing 10-20 cats per month to be fixed.
If you or someone you know has unfixed cats that may breed, contact VCC to find out how to access free or low-cost spay and neuter surgery. We will help you find resources to properly care for owned and feral cats. Fill out our form on this website, Request Cat TNR for help.
